EUROFUR — European Research Group wants this website to be usable by everyone, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard only, magnification or other assistive technology. This statement covers eurofur.eu.

Compliance status

The website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA, because of the exceptions listed below. The site’s own pages — layout, navigation, colours, text and images — are designed and tested against level AA.

What we have done

  • Every page can be used with a keyboard alone; a “Skip to content” link is the first item on each page and the keyboard focus is always visible.
  • Text and interface colours meet the WCAG AA contrast ratios, also on the dark header image.
  • Pages are organised with headings and landmarks (header, navigation, main content, footer), the current page is announced in the menu, and repeated “Read more” links name the post they lead to.
  • Images that carry information have a text alternative; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
  • Pages work at 400% zoom and on a 320 px wide screen without scrolling sideways, and respect the system setting for reduced motion.
  • Pages written in Polish are marked as Polish, so screen readers read them with the right pronunciation.

Known limitations

  • PDF publications. Many of the publications and conference materials available for download were produced before this website and are not tagged for screen readers. If you need a publication in an accessible format, write to us and we will send it.
  • Posters of events. Older posts include invitations published as images. Each has a text alternative with the key information.
  • Content from other services. The membership application form is provided by Google Forms and the Facebook page by Facebook; their accessibility is outside our control. The forms can also be opened directly in a new tab; if you cannot use them, write to us.

Preparation of this statement

This statement was prepared on 27 October 2026 on the basis of a self-assessment: automated testing with axe-core of all page types at desktop and mobile widths, followed by manual checks of keyboard navigation, focus visibility, contrast over images, reflow and text spacing. It is reviewed whenever the website’s design changes.
